Pain, Purpose and Pickles is my personal reflection of living a life I never imagined. My journey of unfathomable pain and immense strength began on June 16, 2000. At the age of 24 I was thrown into the pits of grief with the devastating death of my husband. Newly married and pregnant I was shattered in immeasurable ways and left wondering if I would ever find my happy ending. Through the unconditional love of family, friends and strangers I was able to move forward with my life.

A few years later my heart experienced another devastating blow. My father, at the age of 56, died from a rare and life threatening disease, Addison's Disease. His death opened unexpected conversations that sent warning messages about my own health. Fast forward a few years, I am a busy mom of 3 kids and in-home person training business. My instincts are screaming at me something was not right. I started putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Joint pain, extreme fatigue, body temperature regulation issues, depression, salt cravings and hyperpigmentation. Something was seriously wrong.

At the age of 35 my world changed forever when I was diagnosed with the Addison's Disease. I was drowning in emotions with the diagnosis but refused to allow my quality of life to be compromised. I refused to be defined by my illness. The last 14 years of living with Addison's Disease there have been questions with no answers, side effects, and placebo effects. There has been tears and fears. There has also been immense joy and laughter. I have evolved from patient to expert, from ill to empowered, from helpless to hopefully.

Reflecting on my life I am heartbroken, and speechless. But I am also inspired, amazed, proud and in awe of my strength and courage. Along my journey I have discovered unconditional self-love, my self-worth and my true purpose in life. Pain, Purpose and Pickles I share with you the lessons I learned from a devastating loss. Lessons that gave me the ability to overcome a debilatating illness.
